تستند الحركة الاجتماعية للبيت الصغير* (Tiny-house movement) إلى عدة عوامل، منها:

يتطلب مساحة ومصادر أقل للبناء والصيانة.
يمكن ان يكون أكثر كفاءة طاقويا وتأثيرها البيئي أقل.
يمكن ان يكون حلًا مؤقتًا أو دائما للأشخاص بلا مأوى

السيق - البتراء- The arch at the entrance of the Siq of Petra

يوجد عند مدخل السيق سد ضخم، أعيد بناؤه عام 1963 وأعيد بناؤه ايضا عام 1991، وهو مصمم لسد مصب السيق وإعادة توجيه مياه وادي موسى. السد هو إعادة بناء مطابقة إلى حد ما للسد الذي بناه الأنباط للسيطرة على وادي موسى في القرن الأول قبل الميلاد. وبداية القرن الأول. يحتوي المدخل أيضًا على بقايا قوس ضخم لم يبق منه سوى العمودين وبعض حجارة القوس نفسه. انهار القوس في عام 1896 بعد وقوع زلزال، ولكن من المعروف أن مظهره قد تم تصويره على مطبوعة حجرية بواسطة ديفيد روبرتس.
